Kachnar Tree Pods are the dried seed pods of the Bauhinia variegata tree, which is native to tropical regions in Asia. Ours are sourced from a family-owned business in India. They're attractive and interesting.
These botanicals are known to contain some antimicrobials, flavonoids, and of course, tannins. Kachnar Tree Pods are a perfect natural "prop" to add to a mixed substrate of botanicals and leaves.
They are relatively small, averaging about 6"-7" in (15.24-17.78cm) length, with a width of about 1/2" (1.27cm).
PREPARATION: You'll need to boil them for at least 15 minutes (sometimes a bit more) to release some of the initial tannins and organics that may be trapped in their tissues. Surprisingly, they almost always sink immediately after submersion!
