Borneo Catappa Bark

Tannin Borneo Catappa Bark offers a rich source of tannins, humic acids, and other substances which are thought to provide some antibacterial and antifungal properties and other health benefits for aquarium inhabitants. They also happen to look great!

They average about 7inches (18 cm) long, and about 1/2" (1.27cm) in width, forming a perfect supplemental substrate for for ornamental shrimp and small fishes to graze on. These are considerably lighter in weight and "texture" than our Indian Catappa Bark.

These bark pieces will impart a nice little humic "tint" to the water that we love so much around here!  They will slowly decompose, and may be replaced as desired, or left in your aquarium to completely break down.

PREPARATION: We recommend that you boil them for a few minutes, or simply soak them for a few days prior to use.  This will also help them become more waterlogged and "crack off" some of the initial burst of tannins.
